The whole world watched as Britney Spears fought for her freedom. Now the pop princess is sharing an invitation from the US Congress with an opportunity to speak about her guardianship process.
“I feel heard and that I’m relevant for the first time in my life”: This is what Britney Spears writes in her latest Instagram post. The singer fought for years to get her father’s 13-year guardianship over. Britney Spears successfully regained her freedom shortly before her 40th birthday. She should now be allowed to speak before the US Congress about the judicial process.
“Dear Ms. Spears, we congratulate you and your lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, on your historic victory,” begins the lines of an official letter from early December 2021, which the pop singer published on Instagram. Congressmen Charlie Crist and Eric Swalwell have followed in detail Britney Spears’ guardianship end trial and her legal battle.
Britney Spears can share her guardianship process with MPs
It is also said that the two politicians would like to give her the opportunity to speak about her guardianship and the process. They extend an invitation to the “Piece Of Me” singer that she would like to tell her story in her own words before the US Congress. Britney Spears is already a role model for many of those affected and, if she wants to, the politicians would appreciate “learning more about the emotional and financial side of the current American guardianship systems”.

Britney Spears writes on her post: “I received this letter sharing my story months ago. I haven’t progressed as far in my healing process as I do now. But first of all, I’m grateful that my story is being heard.” .
Britney Spears feels abandoned by her family
Britney Spears has long fought for her freedom, and since her guardianship ended in November 2021, she has had public feuds with her family, most notably her little sister Jamie Lynn Spears. The family is said to have never stood by her and she felt abandoned by her closest relatives. This is also made clear in this post: “In a world where your own family works against you, it is indeed difficult to find people who understand you and show empathy”.
The 40-year-old still doesn’t want to be seen as a victim, although she admits she “remains confused about it all”. But she wants to help other sufferers to take control of their lives and be brave. For a long time she herself was too afraid to act. In the meantime, however, the singer is lucky enough to have a small and lovable circle of friends that she can rely on, she says. Spears can apparently imagine that one day she will accept the invitation: “I thank Congress very much for inviting me to the White House.”
