Princess Kate: She plants “Catherine’s Rose” for clinic

Princess Kate (43) completed a moving visit to the Hospital colchester. She visited the “Wellbebeng Garden” of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and symbolically planted the “Catherine’s Rose” named after her. She also met with those affected in the hospital cancer center and also spoke about her own cancer.

For the visit, the princess carried loose brown trousers to the striped blouse and blazer as well as white sneakers. So she knelt in front of the bed and put the plants into the ground together with employees and the award -winning garden designer Adam Frost. The Korallpinke Floribunda-Rose was named Kate’s honor in May. The sales proceeds flow into cancer research.

The “Wellbegg Garden” of the Hospital colchester offers a relaxing space for clinic staff, patients and visitors. In addition to the 50 roses for this garden, 500 other “Catherine’s Rose” plants are donated to wellbeing and municipal gardens across the United Kingdom.

The princess has repeatedly emphasized the importance of plants for healing. Before that, she explained how nature became “refuge” of her family during her cancer treatment. She described: “The ability of nature to inspire us, nourish us and help us, heal and grow, is limitless and has been understood for generations.”

Even during this visit, the princess spoke openly about her own experiences. She had made her cancer public in March of last year, and she is currently in remission. Kate described the “Finding a new normality” after completing her chemotherapy as a “roller coaster” and emphasized: “You put on a brave face, go stoically through the treatment, the treatments are complete, and then it says: ‘I can continue, back to normality’, but in reality the phase is very, very difficult.” After such a treatment at home, you cannot simply “work as normal as before”. Having someone who helps you through this time is very valuable.

Princess Kate announced in January that after her treatment she was on the way of improvement. Since then she has returned step by step to her royal duties and, for example, was seen on the balcony of the Buckingham palace last month on the side of her husband Prince William (43) and her three children during “Trooping The Color”. The Royal Ascot horse racing, however, remained a big surprise despite the prior notice.
