After the divided judgment against Sean “Diddy” Combs, the team of his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura spoke up.
The jury in New York made their judgment: Sean “Diddy” Combs was guilty – but only in parts of the charges raised against him. While the most serious allegations such as sex trade and organized crime could not be proven, the 54-year-old was only guilty of having brought his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another prostitution. Now the legal team of his ex-girlfriend Ventura speaks for the first time.
“This entire criminal process began when our client Cassie Ventura gave the courage to submit her civil lawsuit in November 2023,” said lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor in a statement, the reaction came just a few hours after the judgment of New York City.
Cassie paved the way for the conviction
Wigdor emphasized the groundbreaking role of his client: “Although the jury Combs did not find any doubt about sex trade with Cassie, she paved the way for a conviction for prostitution.” Combs was guilty in two charges – both concerned his ex -girlfriend Ventura and a second witness, who testified under the pseudonym “Jane”.
The indictment had accused Combs of forced or squeezing women to orchestrated sexual acts with male prostitutes. These meetings were referred to as “freak offs” or “Hotel Nights”. Both Ventura and “Jane” spent several days on the witness stand and described their experiences. Ventura also claimed that Combs raped her towards the end of her eleven years.
“Incredible traces in the entertainment industry”
“By going public with her experience, Cassie left indelible traces both in the entertainment industry and in the struggle for justice,” added Wigdor. He emphasized that his team was behind his client without reservations “who showed exemplary courage throughout the process”.
The statement concluded with clear words: “It showed unshakable strength and drew attention to the realities of powerful men in our environment and the misconduct that lasted for decades without consequences. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight for survival.”
Up to 20 years in prison possible
The lawsuit against Combs extended over 29 days of negotiations, on which the public prosecutor’s office called almost three dozen witnesses. The public prosecutor’s office had portrayed Combs as the leader of a multi -layered business empire that was used to commit various crimes. For the charges in which he was convicted, Combs threatens up to 20 years in prison – ten years for each point.
