With an emotional message, Jürgen Klopp (58) commented on the tragic death of football star Diogo Jota (1996-2025) and his brother André Silva (2000-2025). The former Liverpool coach, who trained the Portuguese international during his time at the Premier League club, found moving words of farewell.
“A great friend”
Klopp wrote about a series of photos that the two show together on the pitch: “This is a moment when I rings with myself. There has to be a greater purpose, but I can’t see it. It breaks my heart to hear from the death of Diogo and his brother André.”
For Klopp, who promoted Jota in Liverpool and gave him his trust, the attacker was more than just one player: “Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father. We will miss you so much!” And further: “All my prayers, thoughts and strength on rods, the children, the family, the friends and everyone who loved. Rest in peace. In love, J.”
Jürgen Klopp was a coach at FC Liverpool from 2015 to 2024, where the late Diogo Jota has been under contract since 2020.
