The legendary Monty Python comedian appeared in a good mood on the red carpet in London-alongside his fourth wife.
The British Monty Python legend John Cleese (85) celebrates great success with a theater adaptation by the Sitcom classic “Fawlty Towers”. For a VIP night of the play “Fawlty Towers: The Play” in London, the comedian and actor showed himself on a rare appearance on the red carpet. Cleese visited the event together with his fourth wife Jennifer Wade.
Common appearances of the couple are rare – all the better that John Cleese showed himself in a good mood despite an apparent injury on the red carpet. With his wife Jennifer Wade, he posed for the cameras with a smile. While Cleese was wearing an orthosis on the left foot, he presented Leger in jeans, blue polo shirt and dark blue jacket. His partner chose a reserved look with a dark blazer and also jeans.
He has three failed marriages behind him
Cleese has been married to Jennifer Wade since 2012, she is his fourth wife. Previously, he was married to Connie Booth (84), Barbara Trentham (1944-2013) and Alyce Faye Eichelberger (80). With Booth, Cleese once developed “Fawlty Towers”.
In a joint conversation with Monty-Python colleague Eric Idle (82) and US Talkmaster Conan O’Brien (62) about his failed marriages. Especially Idle, who has been married to Tania Kosevich in a second marriage since 1981, got his fat away in the usual mocking way.
When Idle mentioned in the studio to be married for almost 40 years, he received enthusiastic applause from the audience. Cleese promptly reacted with one of his typical tips: “Why do you clap? I mean, 40 years? This testifies to a lack of imagination.”
Cleese further joked that the secret of a good marriage was not to get children. “Children are the cause of the majority of misery in the world. They cost a fortune. You worry and then you grow up and become like your mothers,” he laughed. His daughters Cynthia Cleese (54) and Camilla Cleese (41) have long since been used to such sayings.
