Oasis comeback in Wales: Everything again as before?

“Absolutely great”: For the first time in 16 years, the Gallagher brothers are back on stage – without a seed and evil blood. About an evening that put a city in euphoria.

Can you make a radio silence with just one concert over the years? If it is based on the fans of the Britpopband Oasis, this is always possible. More than 73,000 supporters from all over the world cheered the world -famous troop with the brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher loudly when they stepped on stage in the Welsh cardiff on Friday – for the first time in 16 years. No trace of disappointment or resentment.

“Tears run down while you are watching it and every line is singing along,” said one or two tears in mind from Düsseldorf after the concert. “It was incredible, absolutely great,” enthused a supporter from Great Britain from the appearance.

“I know that we are exhausting”

With the song “Hello”, the world -famous sibling couple began their long desired appearance, the cheers of the tens of thousands of fans were heard loudly in front of the stadium. After that, the brothers left no wishes and performed numerous of their songs in a little more than two hours, including “Morning Glory” and “Supersonic”. Hits like “Don’t look back in Anger” and “Wonderwall” were not missing.

One or the other joke – for example about the sometimes high ticket prices – did not miss the brothers, as British media reported. But also gentler tones were struck: “Thank you for doing so with us,” said Liam, according to “Guardian”. “I know we are exhausting.”

Oasis ensures youth feeling

But what is it actually with the Great Britain’s once the most popular export still enthusiastic about the masses today? Oasis brings back the “attitude to life of the 90s” and his own youth, explained the pendant Daniel from Kiel, for example.

In Cardiff, however, not only fans of the very beginning can be seen on this evening, but also numerous young people who were able to experience Oasis for the first time and now. “It was damn great. That was the best day of my damn life,” enthused a youth from Great Britain after the concert.

A sad or disappointed face could therefore not be found in Cardiff in any alley. On Friday afternoon there was an exuberant party atmosphere: Oasis songs were tuned by fans on the streets, and there were long snakes in front of the pubs. Even during the concert, numerous people gathered in front of the stadium in order to be able to experience reunification at least a little.

And today the party continues directly: The second concert of the “Oasis Live ’25” tour also takes place in the Cardiff stadium. After that, the band wants to ensure euphoria worldwide. In the coming months, Oasis will plan several appearances in their homeland in Great Britain as well as in Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia and Argentina. There should even be a concert film.

Praise in British press

The appearance of the two brothers also made positive headlines in the British press. “A shameless journey back into the 90s to the loudest and best songs in Britpop,” wrote the “Guardian”. “Oasis blown away the cobwebs at the start of their reunion tour in Cardiff and cleared all doubters,” said the BBC.

Oasis became known more than 30 years ago with the album “Definitly Maybe”. At the latest the second plate “(what’s the story) Morning Glory?” From 1995 with hits like “Wonderwall” or “Don’t look back in Anger” made it world famous. After a long dispute by the brothers Liam and Noel, the band broke. In August 2024 they announced the comeback: “The big wait has ended,” the brothers said.
