Banner with a new location in Thalheim

With the newly opened production site in Thalheim near Wels at the beginning of June, we see ourselves well prepared for the future. In the past fiscal year, sales increased from four to 4.1 million batteries and sales increased by two percent to 270 million euros.

In addition, a new location was opened in Thalheim near Welser at the beginning of June. Ten million euros have been invested there and 25 new jobs have been created. The production of industrial batteries and power storage units is to be concentrated there, i.e. batteries for forklifts or lifting platforms, but also emergency batteries for hospitals.

Banner wants to react to the “massive changes” in the automotive industry with an Agenda 2030. But you can see growth opportunities, even with the increasing share of e-cars, said Andreas Bawart, commercial director of Banner. “Starter batteries will remain Banner’s core business in the future,” said Bawart. The two major business areas are initial equipment and the “aftermarket”, i.e. the replacement of lead-acid batteries. There will be a strong focus on AGM batteries and those for trucks, i.e. in the high-quality area. In the replacement business, too, we see a lot of potential and global market growth of two to three percent in the next few years.
