He was in a coma, floating in mortal danger. But now Heinz Hoenig is doing so well that he could even get a reception.
Last year he fought for survival, now film star Heinz Hoenig (73) is back in the spotlight. Accompanied by his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (40), he came to an Emmy party in Berlin on July 8-even without a wheelchair.
“What an evening”
Annika Kärsten-Hoenig for two common snapshots: “He is back” (German: He is back). “What an evening,” she raved in a story. Both had thrown themselves in shell for the performance, wearing dark suits. Actually, the former “Das Boot” star is still dependent on the wheelchair. In Berlin, however, he walked over the carpet, only sometimes a bit supported by his wife.
He wants to act again
In the fact that he wanted to have a nice evening with his wife. “I let everything work on me. It’s pretty exciting.” That he could even come to the event, “I especially owe my wife”. The emphasized: “It is a miracle that we are here. I love Heinz, he also fought for our children.” But professional ambitions are still starting.

If the fabric fits when it is a project with depth, I am for both.” He also has the support of his wife: “An artist does not retire. Many say: Heinz, be glad that you live – and let it be good. But that’s not how it works for him.”
The reception in Berlin was the best opportunity to show and network. The EMMY television award will be awarded in New York in September. The 30-member jury in the German-speaking area now viewed the productions in Berlin and gave up its vote.
In spring they celebrated their love with second wedding
Heinz Hoenig had to go to the hospital at the end of April 2024 due to acute heart problems. Bacteria had damaged his esophagus, the actor was operated on and the esophagus was removed. After 143 days in the intensive care unit – including ops, coma and resuscitation – Annika Kärsten -Hoenig brought her “Heinzi” home and has been maintaining it since then. The couple has been married since March 2019. Six years later, they renewed their marriage vow on Sylt. The couple has two sons, Juliano (4) and Jianni (2).
