Lewis Capaldi failed his voice at the Glastonbury Festival 2023. The singer then took a break. Now he looks back at this time.
The Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi spoke about his way there after his comeback at the Glastonbury Festival. “Therapy was an enormously important part of my last two years, a major reason that I can be a musician again,” said the 28-year-old in a video of the online therapy platform “Betterhelp”.
At the Glastonbury 2023, Capaldi partially failed during his song “Someone You Loved”. He then asked the audience to sing as loud as possible. Lewis broke off his tour in 2023, fought with the effects of his Tourette disease and the resulting psychological problems, as his record label formulated.
The Glastonbury appearance makes him sad
In the video he also spoke about the Glastonbury appearance: “I was on stage and was in the entire autopilot mode,” said Capaldi. He felt far away in his head. “If I look at it now, I feel sad”. The reason why he was panicked at the time was because the things were thinking about things that could go wrong.
But he arose – and surprisingly celebrated his comeback at the Glastonbury Festival this year and publishes the song “Survive”.
Capaldi made illness in 2022
Capaldi had made his Tourette disease public in September 2022. The neurological disease leads to ticks in which people unintentionally carry out movements and sometimes give sounds or words.
So far there is no therapy, but the effects can be reduced with the help of specialists. Unlike in public, only a small part of those affected has the urge to say swear words.
