Politics, blue -blooded and lots of glamor: French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are guests at King Charles III. The pictures of the state visit.
France President Emmanuel Macron completes a three -day state visit to Great Britain from 8th to July 10th. Among other things, it should be about increased military cooperation between the two European nuclear powers. The question of how the dangerous crossings of migrants can be prevented via the English Channel to Great Britain should also play a role.
The last state visit of a French president has been more than 15 years ago. Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni were also received in Windsor in 2008 by Queen Elizabeth II. After years of tense relationships as a result of the Brexit, Great Britain and France have recently approached each other again. Macron and his wife Brigitte from Crown Prince William and his wife Kate are welcomed at the start. Later the Macrons then hit King Charles III Castle to attend an exhibition. A carriage ride through Windsor and a state banquet is also planned. In the course of the state visit, which a British government spokesman classifies as “historically”, the French President also speaks in the British parliament.
