At the state banquet, King Charles and President Emmanuel Macron shone with foreign language skills and friendship expressions.
King Charles (76) also used the state banquet in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron (47) and his wife Brigitte Macron (72) on Tuesday evening to demonstrate his French. After his greeting en français, he changed primarily in English and, in his speech in the festively decorated St. Georges Halle at Windsor Castle between Great Britain and France, which had to be celebrated.
The king also pointed out that a lot had happened since his trip to France in 2023. Great Britain and France have been “getting closer” since then. Finally, the king expressed a toast to France and the relationships between the two countries.
As a result, President Emmanuel Macron spoke, also emphasized the important relationship between the two countries and, in his speech, also praised Queen Elisabeth II. France had always felt a “real affection for her mother” – and Macron believed that these feelings were based on mutuality.
Solemn clothes on a solemn event
Both King Charles and Emmanuel Macron attend the festive event in the Black Frack with a red sash. Meanwhile, their respective wives rely on different outfits.
Queen Camilla (77) enveloped Fiona Clare in an ivory -colored, embroidered evening dress. The truly royal look is rounded off with a tiara, a necklace, earrings and a bracelet made of sapphires and diamonds. She also wears a red sash. Meanwhile, Brigitte Macron uses her noble robe from head to toe on the color blue.
It is the first French state visit in around 17 years. Together, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will stay in Great Britain until July 10th.
