The Emmy and Bafta awards winner will return to the streaming platform for its fifth season in September.

Before the premiere of its fifth season, Slow horses It has already been renewed for a seventh season. Apple TV+ announced the news of the renewal Tuesday.

Season 7 will last six episodes and will follow Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) and his band of Slow Horses while they are “in the search to find and neutralize a mole in the heart of the British government before they can tear down the state,” reads a press release for the next season.

The British spy thriller was previously renewed for a sixth season last year. The next fifth and sixth seasons are expected to adapt the novels of Mick Herron “London Rules”, “Joe Country” and “Sloough House”. The fifth season will premiere on Apple TV+ on September 24.

“‘Slow horses’ has conquered fans from around the world with its unique mixture of British self -critical humor and thrilling action. I am delighted that the spectators have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent interpretation as Jackson Lamb along with the slightly clumsy spying of Slow Horses,” said Jay Hunt, creative director for Europe of Apple TV+, in a statement on Tuesday.

Slow Horses’ success

The drama premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022, where quickly became a criticism success. The four seasons of Slow Horses have the qualification of “Certified Fresh” in Rotten Tomatoes, and two seasons (the second and the fourth) obtained an exceptional 100%. The third season, meanwhile, received nine nominations for the Primetime Emmy awards and won the best script for a dramatic series.

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films, part of the Mediawan Group. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman are the executive producers. The seventh season will be adapted for television and Ben Vanstone will be the executive producer, with the direction of Robert McKillop.
