The legal dispute began in February 2022 when Pitt submitted a lawsuit. He claims that Jolie sold the winery despite a previous agreement, according to which neither of the two partners was allowed to act without the other. The “Maria” actress countered in September 2022 with a counter-action and accused Pitt to wage a “vengeful war” against her since her divorce in 2016.

The former “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” stars, who separated in 2016 after twelve years and two years of marriage, have six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19) and the twins Vivienne and Knox (16). Her lengthy divorce was only finalized in December last year.

Silence agreement as a sticking point

Jolie’s team of lawyers claims in court documents that Pitt refused to buy her share in the winery because she did not want to sign a silence agreement.
