Benny Blanco: Music producer forgets her own songs

Benny Blanco (37) revealed that he does not recognize his own songs every now and then. The music producer has been working in the industry for more than 15 years. No wonder that some projects are no longer present. “Sometimes I am in the restaurant and think: ‘Oh my god, this song is so good.’ And then I look for him with Shazam, and then it’s my own song, “he says. Shazam is an app that recognizes songs by analyzing a short audio recording.

Blanco explains that he occasionally forgets his own works by being “old” and “nothing can remember”. “I did hundreds of songs that have now been published,” emphasizes the 37-year-old and realizes that “he has been writing songs for 16 years”.

Benny Blanco goes back to big pop songs from the 2000s and 2010s. Among other things, he was involved in some of the big hits from Maroon 5. So he worked on “Moves Like Jagger”, “Animals” and “Maps” and is one of the band’s producers. He was also involved in the process of creation of “PayPhone”. In addition, Blanco is responsible for successful songs such as Katy Perry’s (40) “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream” and “Diamonds” by Rihanna (37).

Most recently, together with his fiancee, superstar Selena Gomez (32), published the joint album “I Said I love you first”. The couple made their relationship public in December 2023 and fieved around a year later.
