From September 17th to 19th, the British Royals will receive the US President couple – at Windsor Castle.
The appointment of the second state visit by US President Donald Trump (79) and his wife Melania (55) in Great Britain has been determined. Shortly after midnight on July 14th, the Buckingham Palace announced in a statement: “The President of the United States, President Donald J. Trump, accompanied the first Lady Melania Trump, accepted an invitation from the king’s invitation to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom from September 17th to 19th, 2025.”
Will there be a carriage procession?
The three-day state visit is the second in a row that takes place in Windsor this year, since the Buckingham Palace in London is extensively renovated. From July 8th to 10th, French President Emmanuel Macron (47) and his wife Brigitte Macron (72) already stayed at Windsor Castle. They also took part in a carriage procession through the city. It remains to be seen whether this will also be the case with the US President couple. During his first state visit in 2019, there was no procession along the mall for security reasons. Trump was largely transported by plane between the locations.
A complete event program has not yet been announced, but there should be a ceremonial reception and a state banquet in St. George’s Hall. All high -ranking members of the royal family will be involved, it continues.
Trump’s state visit is already considered historical: Because traditionally president is actually not offered a state visit in their second term, instead they are invited to tea or lunch with the monarch. King Charles III. (76) In February, however, Trump surprisingly invited to a second state visit to the United Kingdom.
“It will be an honor for us”
The invitation was made by a letter, which British Prime Minister Keir Strander presented to the American President during a press conference in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC. Trump immediately accepted the invitation. “The answer is, on behalf of our wonderful First Lady Melania and myself,” said Trump at the time. “We look forward to being there and honoring the king and her country. Your country is a fantastic country, and it will be an honor for us to be there.”
