Princess Kate is a regular guest at the Wimbledon final as patron of the tournament. This time she brought her whole family with them and congratulated Jannik Sinner.
After visiting the women’s final the day before, Princess Kate returned on July 13th at the end of the Wimbledon Championships-this time accompanied by her family. Together with Prince William, 43, and the two older children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the 43-year-old followed the men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The family of four was perfectly coordinated: everyone wore different shades of blue. While Prince William and the eleven -year -old George appeared in a suit and tie, Kate and ten -year -old Charlotte chose summer dresses.
Royal tradition at Wimbledon
Although the Royal Box in the Center Court is usually not accessible for children due to the high demand and the limited 74 places, exceptions are made for royal offspring.
Prince George had already given his Wimbledon debut in 2022 and was even allowed to hold Novak Djokovic’s winning cup in his hands. Last year George visited the tournament for the first time together with his sister Charlotte when they cheered on Carlos Alcaraz in the victory against Djokovic. In 2024 Wimbledon was a pure girls’ excursion: Kate visited the tournament with Charlotte and her sister Pippa Middleton-one of the rare public appearances during her cancer treatment.
Special importance of the visit
This year’s Wimbledon visit was particularly important for Princess Kate. As the patron of all England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, she traditionally presents the trophies to the winners. Since her wedding with Prince William in 2011, she has visited the tournament almost every year – only in 2013 she was missing when she was very pregnant with George.
The visit was also of particular importance for Prince William: Nothpla, an organization that was awarded to his Earthshot Prize, was a partner of Wimbledon. It produces food packaging and even spoons of algae.
He was also happy about the high visit. A picture that shows the arrival of the family was garnished with the emoji of a strawberry. Strawberries with cream are among the many Wimbledon traditions that are cultivated by the British and are an integral part of the tournament experience.
Numerous celebrities in the Royal Box
Incidentally, the seven-year-old Prince Louis was not there-he still has to wait for his Wimbledon debut. In addition to the British royal family, King Felipe of Spain was also present to support his compatriot Alcaraz. The Royals were also in the company in the company of other celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Anna Wintour, Andrew Scott or Keira Knightley.
