Chelsea FC has won the FIFA club World Cup in the USA-but Donald Trump performed with a bizarre appearance.
US President Donald Trump (79) was to hand over the trophy at the FIFA Club World Championship in New Jersey and then actually leave the place to the winners. But instead he stopped in the middle of the kickers of the English football club FC Chelsea – which obviously caused great irritation in these.
Cole Palmer: “I was a little confused”
When the FC-Schelsea players put their trophy up on July 13, their star was hardly to be seen. Cole Palmer (23) scored two goals in the 3-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain and was appointed player of the four-week tournament. But at the victory celebration in the stadium, he disappeared behind Donald Trump, who stood in front of him smile and clapping and could not be moved aside by FIFA President Gianni Infantino (55).
“I was a little confused,” Cole Palmer later admitted “Time”. “I knew he would be there, but I didn’t know that he would stand in the stands where we would upset the trophy.” Chelsea captain Reece James (25) also emphasized: “Before that, they told me that he would hand over the trophy and then leave the stage. I thought he would leave the stage, but he wanted to stay.” James tried to gain something positive from the bizarre moment: “This probably underlines how important the tournament is.”
Trump’s appearance goes viral
Previously, when Trump and Infantino stepped for the award ceremony, loud boos opened in the stadium. However, the US President was not crushed by this. He focused on the stage, applauded and swayed with the football professionals. The scene developed into a viral hit within a very short time and possibly gives a foretaste of the World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
