Prince Harry and Charles: A meeting ensures rumors of reconciliation

London, last week Wednesday in the late afternoon: On the terrace of the noble “Royal Over-Seas League” club near the Green Park, two men and a woman sit at a table and chat in the sun. After a few minutes you get up and continue your conversation inside the elite club. Paparazzi had already photographed the trio of the British gossip newspaper “Daily Mail”, because the three were Tobyn Andreae, the communication secretary of King Charles, and Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire from the communication team of Prince Harry and Meghan.

The meeting described the “reconciliation of century” as “secret peace summit”. It is not clear why the two parties came back together for the first time in years. “There is still a long way ahead of us, but for the first time in years a communication channel is open,” the “Daily Mail” wants to know from an insider. “There was no formal agenda, just a casual get -together with a drink. There were things that both sides wanted to talk about,” it continues.

A possible reconciliation would actually be a sensation, because there has been silence between father and son for years. At the latest, since Prince Harry shot Queen Camilla in his biography “Reserve” against stepmother, the relationship between the two is considered broken. In May, however, Harry emphasized that he wanted a family peace. “I would like to reconcile with my family. It has no point in fighting, life is precious,” Harry said at the time. But the king would not speak to him – “because of this security matter”.

Harry had tried to obtain the right to state personal protection for himself and his family in Great Britain – unsuccessfully. Because in 2020 he and his wife Meghan submitted all royal obligations and moved to the USA.

Despite the surprising meeting, a possible reconciliation does not seem much more likely. Because that the “Daily Mail”, one of the gossiping newspapers, which is particularly hated by Prince Harry, now reported on the appointment and – if only vaguely – played to the public, may have also made it more difficult. In “Reserve” Harry criticized the close cooperation between the palace and the British gossip press, described, as was also caused by distrust within the royal family. In the past, he even had a defamation against the Sunday edition of the “Daily Mail”.

Meghan and he are frustrated that the meeting became public, the “Daily Mail” now writes. So an approximation seems to fail before it really started.
