Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden celebrates her 48th birthday. Papa King Carl XVI. Gustaf conducted the birthday song – with a funny dance.
Sweden’s crown princess Victoria celebrated her 48th birthday not only with a simple party, but with a real festival marathon.
On the island of Öland, not only the Swedish Royals celebrated the heir to the throne, but also residents and numerous fans who flocked to the favorite island of the royal family. The celebrations extend from July 11th to 15th – although Victoria’s honorary day is July 14th.
The oil countries celebrated their crown princess on “Victoriatag” with games, picnic, a run and a golf tournament.
On the morning of her birthday, the Victoria family surprised with a serenade and strawberry cake. In the afternoon she accepted congratulations in front of Castle Solliden. Also her father, King Carl XVI. Gustaf, gave a short speech.

After a subsequent carriage ride, the royal family listened to Swedish artists at the Victoria concert in the evening, in which donations were collected for the Victoria fund. Then the Victoria Award was presented to beach volleyball players David Åman and Jonatan Hellvig.
The roots of the Victoria Day are not in the royal family, but in a pub. In 1978 the Swedish footballer Kay Wiestål proposed to honor Crown Princess Victoria and the achievements of Swedish athletes. And who was present? Carl Gustaf! Wiestål explained his idea and since then the Victoriatag has been celebrated in Öland – a festival that not only appreciates the crown princess, but also to encourage sports and a healthy lifestyle.
