Start of TV production: This is what Harry Potter looks like: Picture for the TV series Published

The glasses with the round glasses, the striking flash of lightning, the hair a little more shaped: the new Harry Potter may even look a little more like the German illustration on the world-famous book template. At the start of the production of the TV series on the sorcerer’s apprentice and his adventures around the Magieschule Hogwarts, the broadcaster HBO published a first picture of leading actor Dominic McLaughlin in Harry-Potter school uniform.

McLaughlin smiles into the camera. The young actor bears a cloak, tie and sweater are kept in the colors of the Hogwartshaus Gryffindor. According to the BBC, the production of the new series with several seasons should take about ten years.

Casting with 32,000 children

The film is filmed in the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Great Britain, the TV start of the series is planned for 2027. Each relay is said to be a faithful adaptation of the seven books by author JK Rowling, who is on board as an executive producer.

In addition to McLaughlin (Potter), Arabella Stanton (Hermine Granger) and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley) play the leading roles. This was preceded by a casting call last September, which around 32,000 children followed. At the start of the production, HBO announced further occupations: Louise Brealey (“Sherlock”) as Rolanda Hooch and Anton Lesser (“Game of Thrones”) as Garrick Ollivander are also on board.

It is the second film adaptation of the novels after the successful feature films with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who came to cinemas between 2001 and 2011. The first book (“Harry Potter and the Stone of the Weisen”) was published in 1997. With more than 600 million books sold in dozens of languages, “Harry Potter” is the most successful literary series in the world.
