In St. James’s Palace, King Charles, Idris Elba and Keir Strandmer set a common sign in the fight against knife violence.
A year after his first summit on the subject of knife crime, King Charles III. (76) A powerful sign: In the venerable St. James’s Palace, the monarch gathered an impressive alliance of politics, entertainment and activism on Tuesday. Together with actor Idris Elba (52) and Prime Minister Sir Keir Strandmer (62), he conducted a discussion round with victims, youth workers and campaign leaders.
The story of Kyle Shaw Tullin, a 23-year-old Royal Marine and Boxer, was particularly touching. At the age of only 17 he was stabbed and fought for his life. “After the attack, the return to the boxing ring helped me to keep me away from difficulties,” the young man told the illustrious circle.
King Charles was visibly moved: “I was absolutely captivated by KYLES words. That makes me very proud.” The power of sport as a way out of violence was sustainable to the monarchs. “To be too tired from the boxing to drive nonsense – that’s a very good point,” he commented on the preventive effect of sporting activity with a wink.
Idris Elba: “must not let up”
For “Luther” star Idris Elba, the fight against youth power is a matter close to the heart. He launched his own campaign, “Don’t Stop Your Future”, which is committed to knife power in Great Britain. Among other things, the campaign demands that more money are used for youth welfare.
“We have made progress, but we are not allowed to let up,” said Elba in the round with King Charles. “There is still a lot to do – especially in front of the national summit on knife crime in September,” the actor warned to continuously exertion. Prime Minister Starmer praised Elba’s “brilliant” campaign and emphasized the need for common efforts. Among other things, the “Coalition to Tackle Knife Crime”, founded after last year’s palace meeting, continues to combine the police, government and group groups in the fight against knife power.
