Darth Vader’s original lightsaber is auctioned. The estimation value for the “Star Wars” request: up to three million dollars.
Probably the most coveted propheal of the “Star Wars” story is about to auction: Darth Vader’s original lightsaber from the cult films “The Empire Backs” (1980) and “The Return of the Jedi Knights” (1983) will be under the Hammer in Los Angeles in September. The auction house Propstore estimates the value of the legendary prop to one to three million dollars (equivalent to around 2.6 million euros).
for the first time, a lightsaber from the original “Star Wars” trilogy is auctioned. This makes the auction a historical event for collectors and fans worldwide. Brandon Alinger, COO of Propstore, raves about the extraordinary piece: “It is an object of grail level, worthy of the most exquisite collections in the world.”
A gun with history
The lightsaber was led to both David ProWse (1935-2020), which embodied Darth Vader, as well as stunt double Bob Anderson in the combat scenes. This authenticity makes the requisite so valuable – it was actually seen in the hands of the actors and in front of the cameras of the cult films.
The auction falls on the 45th anniversary of “The Empire beats back”-the part of the saga, which is considered the best of the entire “Star Wars” series for many. Real lightsaber props from the original trilogy are extremely rare, which further increases the value of this special piece.
Worldwide tour in front of the auction
Before the lightsaber changes the owner, a spectacular three-city tour will go on a spectacular three-city tour in August. London, New York and Los Angeles will be stations where fans can look at the legendary Requisit up close.
Vader’s weapon is accompanied by other film treasures: Harrison Fords (83) (1989), a neuralyzer from “Men in Black” (1997) and Sauron’s helmet from “The Lord of the Rings” (2001).
