Prince Harry: Will Prince William give him a chance in the royal family?

In the past few days, high -ranking employees of Prince Harry have met with confidants by King Charles. British media report that it should officially only be a get-together. The real reason for the meeting, however, is rather discussions about a possible approach of the dashing prince with his family.

While the monarch is apparently open to a conversation with his younger son, a central question has so far remained unanswered: What role does the throne player Prince William play in this process and what could a future role of Harry in a monarchy look like?

Although William and his staff stay away from the unofficial meeting, Royal experts agree that there would have been no attempt to approach without the silent consent of the Prince of Wales. “The king would never have done this step without William’s support. William and Catherine are the future of the monarchy,” the long-time Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail.

However, the fact that William made these conversations do not mean that he is aiming for real reconciliation. The relationship between the brothers is considered deeply broken, personal conversations are not said to have taken place for over two years. “He is undoubtedly angry with the behavior of the sussexes and probably sees Harry’s behavior as a kind of betrayal,” said Fitzwilliams. Royal author Phil Dampier also sees the hurdle of a family rapprochement with William: “The king is more concerned about the relationship with Kitten than William, I don’t think the two brothers will ever have a tight relationship again.”

Whether and how Harry can and wants to play a role within the royal family in the future depends not only on the willingness to reconciliation, but also on a fundamental understanding of what the royal family has today and will have to do in the future. With a view to a possible ascent of the throne of William, it is clear that if you want to participate in this monarchy, you have to adhere to the rules of the game based on loyalty, reluctance and strategic calculation.

This attitude also seems to be represented by Charles, who, according to the palace circles, is open to a conversation with his younger son, “if her schedule allow it” – but only under clear conditions. A royal insider puts it to the point compared to the “Mirror”: “Harry said in the past that he had to put his attacks on the family and stop giving interviews as the only means of communication.”

So the door is not completely open – but it has opened a gap. Harry’s return to the royal environment, even as a family member and private individual, would be linked to conditions, which also includes a commitment to discretion. Prince Harry will certainly have his motives to look for the conversation with the royal family. Again and again it is said that life as a civilian or celebrity should be far less profitable for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan when they are said to have imagined it. In addition, they were revoked several privileges, such as police protection in Great Britain. A simple visit to his father with his small family perceives Prince Harry as impossible under these circumstances.

It has not yet been decided whether Prince Harry will be part of the narrower royal circle again, be it as an official member or as a private family member, but both should decide at a central point: his relationship with Prince William. Because while King Charles appears open to dialogue, his eldest son will set the standards as the future monarch. It is no secret that he has previously perceived Harry’s behavior as destructive and illoyally.
