Emma Watson loses her driver’s license for six months after she was caught because of a speed crossing.
Hermione actress Emma Watson (35) had to submit her driver’s license for half a year. The reason is a speed crossing that the “Harry Potter” star celebrated last summer. According to the matching media reports, Watson and her blue Audi drove too much through the streets in Oxford on the evening of July 31, 2024 in Oxford.
The actress had already collected nine points on her driver’s license before the new violation was added. With the three additional points for the latest violation, Watson automatically lost her driving license.
Fine sentence of 1206 euros
Watson remained away from the five -minute negotiation on Wednesday in the High Wycombe district court. Her lawyers took over the representation. The court imposed a fine of around 1206 euros against the 35-year-old. Her defender Mark Haslam pointed out in court that Watson was able to pay the fine.
The actress, who became world famous in all eight “Harry Potter” films due to her role as Hermione Granger, had turned to other projects after the magician saga ended. Watson has been studying creative writing in the master’s degree at the University of Oxford since 2023.
Curious double punishment in the courtroom
A special point of the court hearing: On the same day, Zoe Wanamaker, another “Harry Potter” actress, was punished for speeding. The 76-year-old, who played Madame Hooch in the films, was flashed in August last year.
Wanamakers also received a six -month driving ban and had to pay the same fine. Both actresses had already collected nine points on their driving license from their recent violations. In both cases, judge Arvind Sharma imposed the same punishment and was unimpressed by the celebrity status of the accused.
Career break after “Little Women”
After her last cinema appearance in Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women”, Watson largely withdrew from the film business. Instead, she focused on her studies and other business areas. In 2023 she founded a gin brand with her brother who relies on sustainability.
While Watson is pursuing her study career, the production of a new “Harry Potter” television series at HBO is already starting. The elaborate series should take a whole decade and completely re -adapt JK Rowling’s books. This time Arabella Stanton takes on the role of Hermione.
