Jella Haase on Kreuzberg nights, false clichés and what she would do with an unlimited amount of money in Berlin.
Almost ten years after the more or less disturbing, but in any case, a maximum weird cult film “Black Schafe” will continue this Thursday (July 17). This time there is an environmentally conscious Neuköllner Clan boss, bees on speed and gender dolls. Jella Haase (32) plays in “Black Sheep 2”, which she can do particularly well: Berlin snout with heart, charm and lots of fun. In an interview with the news agency Spot on News, the native of Berlin tells about crazy Kreuzberger nights, reveals where the capital still feels like “old Berlin” and explains why she wants to become a cheeky again.
Have you ever seen yourself as a “black sheep”?
Haase: To be honest, I have the feeling that I am more conflicting and a People Pleaser than a black sheep.
From a kitchen psychology, there is often the fear of being wrong somehow …
Haase: I’m more of afraid of leaving people or hurt them. I quickly get a guilty conscience. I always want everyone to feel valued and loved immediately – even if this sometimes stands in the way because I don’t always take the room I need.
Do you often have to bite your tongue?
Haase: I already notice that things are sometimes boiling in me, but I think I got used to it that to express. I don’t know why, for example, my parents always say what they think. I am adapted – I get this snotty again. I’ve been a cheeky.
Your figure Delphine steals a credit card in the film and does what she likes for a day – what would you do in Berlin if you had unlimited money for a day?
Haase: I would probably throw a really fat party. In the television tower, on a boat on the Spree – or a festival on the Tempelhofer Feld.
Would you say all the clichés about Berlin or not?
Haase: Both as well. In Berlin you pass things that are more blatant than in the film.
Do you have such a story ready?
Haase: What you have already experienced here for nights! I was traveling with a colleague after a film award, which was made by the BSR [Berliner Stadtreinigung, Red.] Recognized and chatted – and then the BSR drove us to the club. It’s kind of cool! Or what kind of people meet. Or how often you are barked at and insulted. When you get involved, the wildest things happen in Berlin.
But I also believe that a lot has changed from this anarchic, wild Berlin and that you may also run after an image. I was already trimmed out of an apartment myself. And I know a lot of artists who can no longer live in Berlin at all, they were part of this pulse of the city.
Where do you still feel old Berlin?
Haase: On the Tempelhofer Feld, which is why I also support the “100% Tempelhofer Feld” initiative. This is the last part of such a free Berlin, which I would call a place of longing. What a freedom and common spirit prevails there when you walk on a summer evening that touches me. And that is unique, also throughout Europe and people come from for that.
You grew up in Berlin – how wild was your youth on a scale from 1 to 10?
Do you have an educational tip for parents whose children grow up in Berlin?
Haase: I think education is extremely important, but also basic confidence. You have to say goodbye to the fact that children can primarily protect forever. But I have no children either …
Your parents have given them a lot of freedom …
Haase: We were allowed to do everything – until puberty, then the bar was pushed forward. Then I rebelled because I thought: “Now you start with it? I don’t even see!”
They have often told that they encounter stress in their life with detox trips or fasting. Do you have to get out of Berlin to relax?
Haase: Me. I love to meet people and have very little free time and if so, I plan them full. I have to actively take breaks. And I can’t spend them in Berlin because there are so many temptations.
They also said that it was time to live elsewhere. Where would you go?
HAASE: At the moment I flirt a bit with Switzerland … but I also really want to spend a long time in France.
And what would you miss about Berlin?
Haase: My friends, my family, the feeling – I just love the Berlin Vibe. I have it in me. Every time I come back, I can look forward to Berlin again.
Was this freedom restricted by its awareness?
Haase: I think I can no longer be restricted by it. That used to be more because it intimidated me. Now I have become more relaxed and do everything I feel like. Yesterday we were on the Kudamm in the evening, it was funny. Many young girls have already arrived – but otherwise the Berliners are also relatively relaxed.
