With a letter to the workforce, ex-trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp makes public that he tried to commit suicide.
Wolfgang Grupp (83), the former head of the long -established German clothing manufacturer Trigema, has announced that he is suffering from age depression. After concern for the entrepreneur, it also becomes public that he has committed a suicide attempt.
Grupp would “like to undo” everything
After several days in a hospital, Grupp contacted his former workforce with a letter. The daily newspaper has the letter. It is published with the express consent of the former entrepreneur, because according to the report, Grupp wants to raise awareness that not looking away for diseases such as age depression.
“I am 84 years old and suffer from so -called age depression,” reports Group in the letter. You worry about “whether you are still needed”. That’s why he tried to commit suicide. “I very much regret what happened and would like to undo it,” wrote group.
Wolfgang Grupp seems to be on the way of improvement. It is “good according to the circumstances”. However, it could “take a little longer before I’m completely healthy again,” the letter said. His grandfather founded the company, which he took over in 1969 and made one of the most famous German textile and clothing manufacturers. In 2023, he announced that he will hand over trigema to his children Bonita and Wolfgang Junior and his wife Elisabeth at the turn of the year.
In the letter it is now said: “My big thank you to my wife Elisabeth and my children Bonita and Wolfgang, as well as all employees of the Trigema company.” His son and daughter should now be able to concentrate on leading Trigema “into a successful and safe future”. “I am very proud of my wife and my children.”
