Shortly before the start, a fire destroys the main stage of the electrical festival. It was unclear whether the event could take place. A new stage was built within a few days.
According to their own information, the organizers of the Tomorrowland electrical festival have created an alternative for their burned -out main stage in just two days. Access should be released in the afternoon.
Overall, the event started earlier: “Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 opened at 2 p.m.,” said the organizers of the festival. The alternative for the main stage should be open at 4 p.m. What exactly this alternative looks like remained open for the time being.
The day before, there was still the consideration of making the artists appear at the “Gathering Stage” in the “Dreamville”, which were supposed to play on the main stage on Friday. “From Saturday, the entire festival site is expected to be open to all visitors and all ticket types from 12 noon,” said the organizers.
Stage material was easily flammable
A fire broke out on the main stage two days before the Tomorrowland electrical festival begins in Boom in Belgium late Wednesday evening. There is nothing left of the once artistically designed with mountains and stone sculptures. According to the information, nobody was injured.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. The fire brigade said the police were still busy with the investigation. However, it is clear that the stage material could easily caught fire because it was largely made of wood. No other parts of the festival site, stages or areas are affected by the fire, the organizers said.
Festival with hundreds of thousands of visitors
With several hundred thousand visitors, Tomorrowland is one of the largest electrical festivals worldwide. This year’s edition is under the motto “Orbyz” and, according to previous information, is to take place on two weekends (18 to 20. And 25th to 27th July).
More than 600 appearances on 16 stages are planned, including Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte and Swedish House Mafia. It takes place in the city of Boom, which is located between Brussels and Antwerp.
