The Tinder Swindler Strikes Back – “I’m The Greatest Gentleman In The World”

According to Netflix, Shimon Hayut is said to have stolen hundreds of thousands of women in love. He sees it very differently, he was just single who wanted to get to know a few girls, he says in a first interview.

Shimon Hayut, 31, is said to have tricked several women into giving him hundreds of thousands of euros under the alias Simon Leviev. He is said to have posed as a billionaire working in the diamond industry and asked for the money because he was in danger and needed the money to protect his life. These machinations were the subject of the Netflix documentary “Tinder-Swindler”. The documentary from the point of view of the women concerned has stirred up the life of the real Shimon Hayut.

Announced interview

He had already announced on Instagram that Hayut wanted to comment on the allegations. He posted: “I’ll be telling my side of the story over the next few days as I figure out how best to tell it and be most respectful of both those involved and myself. Until then, I ask that you keep an open mind to be and to keep an open heart.” His quite luxurious life could be seen on the account, but he has since been withdrawn. Hayut never really had to pay for his actions. He was arrested in 2019 and charged with fraud, theft and forgery. He then spent five months in prison and was released in May 2020.

The nice boy next door

Now the time has come for the Tinder swindler to speak: A two-part interview will be broadcast on Monday, February 21 and Tuesday, February 22, “telling his side of the story”. A small clip gives a foretaste.

Not surprising: Hayut denies any guilt, Netflix’s portrayal is wrong and he is not “this monster”. I’m not a “Tinder scammer,”” Hayut said. “I’m not a scammer and I’m not a fake. People don’t know me – so they can’t judge me.” His motives were quite normal. “I was just single and I wanted to meet some girls on Tinder,” he said, adding that he was the “greatest gentleman His blonde model girlfriend sees it that way too, she appears in the clip and promises to reveal “why she sticks by him”.

It remains to be seen whether he also offers an explanation as to why the betrayed women gave him their savings. Incidentally, Shimon Hayut was not convicted because he had received money from the women or had cheated on them. But because he was traveling with false papers as the son of the real Israeli diamond dealer Lev Leviev. He “reported him to the police for falsely impersonating his son,” according to the Times of Israel.

Well-known Hollywood agent

The interview is likely to be the first step in a media career that Shimon Hayut is supposed to help achieve with his dubious reputation. TMZ, citing people close to him, reported that he plans to write a book and host a dating podcast. He is even said to have plans for his own dating show. That sounds absurd, but in fact the PR miracle Gina Rodriquez is said to have taken him under his wing. She has already built up a brand for the “most beautiful con in the world”, Jeremy Meeks. On signing Meeks, former porn queen Rodriquez said: “Everyone has a story and I know that best. The type of people I work with are usually the people who are under fire from the media will.”

As Shimon Hayut launches his career, the women in the documentary launched a Gofund.me campaign to recoup some of their losses.
