The 47-year-old comes from Thuringia, but likes living in Düsseldorf. In an interview, he explains why that is.
The move to Düsseldorf was a bit of a culture shock for actor Christian Erdmann, who was born in Thuringia.
“When I was looking for an apartment here five years ago and the people in the city looked at me so openly, smiled at me, sometimes even spoke to me – and all of this obviously for no reason, just like that! – I thought “What’s wrong with them?”. Until I quickly realized that something was wrong with me, »remembered the 47-year-old in the dpa interview.
«When I was in Thuringia at the beginning of the year, I noticed it again extremely: Here people don’t smile around “just like that”, an open look is almost considered to be intrusive. I perceive a high potential for distrust and reluctance, a lack of simple, open curiosity towards strangers,” says Erdmann about his homeland.
Basically positive attitude
But he no longer wants to do without this desire and curiosity in Düsseldorf – the fundamentally positive attitude towards things in life and towards fellow human beings. ‘Certainly not always and not everywhere, and some might call it superficial. But this approach makes it incredibly easy to feel comfortable here,” said the 47-year-old, who is known from the ZDF “Ostfriesland crime stories”. He has been playing at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus since 2016.
Erdmann can be seen this Monday at 8:15 p.m. in the ZDF drama “A Risky Decision”. He plays a father who is desperately fighting for the life of his sick daughter – also trying to put pressure on social media.
