Rick Kavanian gives insights into his marriage

Rick Kavanian rarely shows himself together with his wife Ilka. But the two combine a lot, as he emphasizes in an interview.

Comedian Rick Kavanian (54) can currently be heard twice in the cinema: in “The Smurfs: The Great Cinema film” he lends his voice both the nasty magician Gargamel and his even more common brother Razamel. And from August 14th he can be seen again in the western parodie movement “The Canoe of the Manitu” alongside Michael Bully Herbig (57). It is much quieter when it comes to private life. Shortly before his 20th wedding anniversary with wife Ilka in August, the comedian gives rare insights into his marriage in a “picture” interview.

“I can laugh a lot about my wife and a lot with her”

What connects Rick Kavanian and his wife Ilka is their common sense of humor. “Ilka has a good sense of humor. This is my luck,” says the comedian in an interview. “I can laugh a lot about my wife and a lot with her.” She knows him “inside and by heart like no other person”, which makes it more difficult for him. Because he could only score with her with “something that I spontaneously out” and what she doesn’t know yet.

His wife seems to have it easier, on the other hand: “Ilka makes a dry comment, says something at breakfast that we have made the day before. Things that I don’t expect at all at the moment – and I’m not prepared at all. These are the best, fun moments.”

Connected by a hidden chemical formula?

The fact that she comes from sales and not from the film and television industry is “not a bad prerequisite”. Because that’s why they have “other topics of conversation”. Nevertheless, his wife helps him “immensely” in his work, as he revealed in an interview with the news agency Spot on News in 2022: “My wife is actually the first person who has my flausen. When I have ideas, my wife gets to hear in the first coffee before the first coffee. And she always has an open ear for me.”

The spouses are obviously so familiar that Kavanian believes “something like a hidden chemical formula” between them. “I haven’t got behind it yet, as it is,” he said to “Bild”. “I’m just happy and grateful that it is.”

Young talent has “not”

The two have been a couple since 2002, three years later they got married. They don’t have children. “That didn’t happen with us,” said Kavanian. “And at some point it was no longer an issue for us.” The native of Munich became known for Herbig’s program “Bullyparade”, which started in 1997.
