Jude Law as Putin at the Venice Film Festival

Stars and commemorative laws such as George Clooney, Cate Blanchett or Jim Jarmusch come to the Venice Film Festival. Jude Law plays Putin-and Julia Roberts plays a college professor in a Me-Too setting.
Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Emma Stone are among the Hollywood stars who come to the Venice Film Festival this year. 21 films compete for the main prize Goldener Löwe, as the head of the Film Festival, Alberto Barbera, announced.
The directorial stars Jim Jarmusch, Guillermo del Toro and Giorgos Lanthimos are represented in the competition. The festival will take place from August 27th to September 6th.
Jude Law plays Putin and other competition highlights
You can see the new thriller of Olivier Assayas, who deals with the rise of Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The Wizard of the Kremlin” runs in competition. Jude Law embodies the president, and Alicia Vikander and Paul Dano also play along. It is told from the perspective of a fictional consultant.
Noah Baumbach presents his comedy “Jay Kelly”, for whom he again worked with his wife, the “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig. Clooney, Adam Sandler and Laura Dern are part of the prominent line -up.
In Jarmusch’s new work “Father Mother Sister Brother” can be seen, among others, Cate Blanchett, Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling and Vicky Krieps.
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in sports drama
Emma Stone again worked with the Venice winner Lanthimos (“Poor Things”). Jesse Plemons and Alicia Silverstone are also part of “Bugonia”, its new sci-fi history, which is competing.
Actor and director Benny Safdie presents “The Smashing Machine” in Venice. The biographical drama tells of the life of the mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr and is prominently occupied with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Park Chan-Wook and François Ozon also compete with their new films around the golden lion.
Christoph Waltz and Felix Kammerer in “Frankenstein”
German -speaking filmmakers are not represented in competition this time. However, director icon Werner Herzog shows his new documentary “Ghost Elephants” out of competition.
In addition, some German or Austrian actresses play in competition contributions. Christoph Waltz and Felix Kammerer (“Nothing new in the West”) are part of del Toro’s long -awaited “Frankenstein”. It is a film adaptation of the classic literature by Mary Shelley, Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi play the leading roles.
Luna Wedler, Martin Wuttke, Johannes Hegemann and Rainer Bock are part of the occupation of “Silent Friend”. The competitive film by the Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi was shot in Germany, said Barbera.
Julia Roberts in ME-TO film by Luca Guadagnino
The film festival is opened with “La Grazia”, the new film by Paolo Sorrentino. He runs in competition – unlike the new work of his prominent compatriot Luca Guadagnino.
Its new thriller “After the Hunt” should revolve around the topic of sexual harassment and is occupied with Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield. Roberts embodies a college professor. Some media referred to the film in advance as “ME-TOOHRILLER”.
