Ana Ivanović confirms the separation of Schweinsteiger – and reveals Grund

After months of speculation, the separation of football star Bastian Schweinsteiger and ex-tennis player Ana Ivanović is officially. The reason for the separation are “insurmountable differences,” said Ivanović’s lawyer Christian Schertz to the German Press Agency on request. No further explanations would be made. The lawyer also asked to respect his client’s privacy – also and especially with a view to her three children.

It is the end of a relationship that captivated the fans from the start. In 2014, the two sports stars were probably involuntarily deployed than a couple when they were photographed during a walk in New York during the US Open. Until the end, the two of them stayed with personal information and joint appearances. The three children together are also a private matter.

The couple gave a few details in the past few years – like the first sentence that Ivanović (37) learned from her future husband: “No thanks, I’m happy in love.”

The application to his wife was of course not a lot of world: the 40-year-old Schweinsteiger rented a park in London for his partner at the time. As he told the “Bild” newspaper in the football podcast “Phrasenmäher” at the end of 2023, he rented a small park, which is always closed, for an hour and lured it in. And: It was not just any park, but the “Notting Hill” from the cult romance.

With her dream wedding in the summer of 2016 in Venice, the 2014 soccer world champion and the former world ranking list delivered perfect pictures: a happy bridal couple waving on a boat, plus a rather illustrious crowd.

Back then, the best man was Schweinsteiger’s friend Felix Neureuther. At that time they were accommodated in the luxury hotel, in which Hollywood star George Clooney had previously celebrated his wedding with lawyer Amal Alamuddin.

The couple has three shared sons – Luka was born in 2018, Leon 2019 and a third son in 2023. Otherwise, hardly anything is known about the children, they were always kept out of the public.

In a dpa interview in spring 2022, Ivanović said: “We do not want to drag them into our world and add labels like ‘tennis players’ or ‘football player’. We want them to be able to express who they are and support them 100 percent.”

When the two came together, they were among the best of their respective sport. The Serb celebrated its greatest success in 2008 when it won the French Open and stood in the final of the Australian Open. At the end of 2016, she ended her career after several injuries.

Football world champion Schweinsteiger ended his sports career in 2019 and from then on worked as a TV expert. In addition to his job for Brax, together with Martin Suter, he published a book (“one of you”) and Til Schweiger produced the documentary “Schweinsteiger Memories: From the beginning to legend” about him (spelling also: “Schw31ns7eiger Memories …”).

Since both ended their sports careers, they have worked in various projects – sometimes together as the faces of the fashion brand Brax. The collaboration is not difficult for them, Schweinsteiger once said in an interview.

And Ivanović added: “We have no everyday jobs and our normal day consists 100 percent of our children. To work as parents can sometimes be very exhausting – especially for the mother. That is why the times when Bastian and I work together and actually travel a bit like a break are.” In the joint book with Suter, Schweinsteiger once said about his wife: “She taught me what love is actually and how you live in a family.”

The first speculation that the dream couple could have separated from the sports world came up months ago. But both were silent – until now. Details or future plans were not known – more than the “insurmountable differences” was not called the reason.
