After her comeback in Washington, DC, Venus Williams confirms her engagement with Andrea Preti – and praises his support.

Venus Williams (45) venture the next step in her relationship: The tennis star has engaged to actor Andrea Preti (37). The 45-year-old announced the joyful news after her first individual victory in almost two years. “You are now a fiancee. How did Andrea help you with this comeback?” And noticed how happy Williams look.

“My fiance is here and really encouraged me to continue playing,” said Williams the engagement. “There were so many moments when I just wanted to relax and lean back.” Tennis is very exhausting and associated with a lot of work. “So he encouraged me to do that and it is wonderful to be here. He has never seen me play,” she emphasized the importance of his support.

Engagement speculation since February

Venus William’s engagement rumors had already sparked rumors of engagement in February: during a training session in Rome, she had been spotted with a striking diamond ring on the hand. A few weeks later, she showed herself alongside her partner at the Fashion Week in Milan – again with a ring, but apparently another than before.

For the first time, the tennis star was associated with the actor and producer Andrea Preti in July 2024. At that time, the two were spotted together on a boat on the Amalfi Coast. Previously, Williams had been in a relationship with the businessman Nicholas Hammond for two years. She also had a relationship with the Model Elio Pis.

Comeback on the tennis court

16 months after her last official match and a uterine surgery, the former world ranking Venus Williams celebrates her comeback on the WTA tour at the age of 45 – at the tournament in Washington, DC in the first round, she prevailed against her compatriot Peyton Stearns with 6: 3 – 6: 4 and has thus become the oldest match winner on the tour for 21 years. The day before, the seven-time Grand Slam winner had successfully returned with a double victory alongside Hailey Baptiste.
