Eva Imhof reported her mental breakdown and treatment in a psychiatry last year. How is you today?
Moderator Eva Imhof (47) fought back into life. After a total collapse in 2023 and an almost one year of psychiatry, she now explains: “I am more happy as I have never before! I feel like freed.” She found her peace with it and be grateful “that life gave me a second chance”. She now wants to share her experiences and knowledge from this difficult time with others.
“I would like to prevent people from slipping into a burnout in the first place,” says Imhof, who is training as an anti-burnout and resilience coach. “Unfortunately, I painfully experienced it my own body.” The training extends over half a year and is “really fun,” explains Imhof. “I wish I had someone who gave me certain tools at the time, explained how to stay mentally healthy.”
Eva Imhof has a partner at her side
She says about her mental collapse today: “This is life! I catapulted myself in there. But I didn’t give up!” Imhof also receives support from her partner, with whom she has a long -distance relationship. The university lecturer from Düsseldorf prefers to stay in the background. The 47-year-old said that he is not working in the show industry.
In March 2024, Eva Imhof also spoke about her collapse. “I almost died,” said the mother of twin daughters. “I suffer from a post -traumatic stress disorder. I don’t know exactly where it comes from.” However, she has been struggling with depression, panic attacks and anxiety disorders since childhood. “A lot has come together in recent years.”
When her father and then her best friend Miriam Pielhau (1975-2016) died in 2015 and 2016, she fell into work. In 2019 she suffered her first burnout and worked normally after four weeks. The separation from her long -time husband Peter Imhof (51) did not make it better, she announced it in 2022: “It was incredibly a lot and of course I fell into a hole after the separation.” Even then she had spoken of her new friend, who supported her very much in the difficult time and was “often at the bedside”.
