He was not only “Sherlock” and “Smaug” in the Hobbit trilogy: Benedict Cumberbatch is a fixture in the film business. The Zurich film festival praises him in the highest tones.
The British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (49, “Sherlock”) is awarded the “Golden Eye” price at the Film Festival in Zurich. The organizers emphasize his charisma and his intelligence and particularly emphasize his role in the drama “The Thing with Feathers”, which he produced himself.
In it, Cumberbatch plays a father of two sons after the death of his wife. “Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most versatile character actors in his generation,” says the director of the festival, Christian Junge.
Cumberbatch became known, among other things, through the British TV series “Sherlock”, which puts the stories around the master detective in a modern context. In the “Hobbit” trilogy, he gave the dragon Smaug his voice and also gave the dragon his movements and facial expressions through technical tricks. The festival lasts from September 25th to October 5th. Cumberbatch should personally accept the price on August 29.
