Confession in court: A doctor admitted Matthew Perry to have administered ketamine several times without medical indication.

In the case of the tragic death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry (1969-2023), another defendant has been guilty: the California doctor Dr. Salvador Plasencia admitted on Wednesday before a federal court in Los Angeles of illegally giving and administering the narcotics of ketamine.

In an agreement with the public prosecutor’s office, Plasencia had injected Perry in the weeks before his death in his house and in a parking lot in Santa Monica Ketamine – without medical necessity. Perry died on October 28, 2023 from the consequences of an overdose of the drug.

He threatens up to 40 years in prison

The 43-year-old doctor, one of a total of five defendants in the Perry case, admitted his fault on Wednesday in front of a federal court in Los Angeles. He is the fourth person who has entered into a deal with the public prosecutor in connection with the death of the actor. Three other charges due to the distribution of ketamine and two for fake documents were dropped in return.

According to court documents, Perry showed strong physical reactions in one of the injections: he “frozen” and his blood pressure increased drastically. Nevertheless, Plasencia left further ketamine to the actor’s assistant for an independent application.

Doctor described Matthew Perry as “idiot”

The investigation also revealed SMS messages between the doctors. In a chat with the also accused doctor Mark Chavez, Plasencia described the actor as “idiots” who can be exploited and openly speculated about financial advantages. Overall, Plasencia Perry Ketamine is said to have sold $ 4,500, including 20 ampoules of 100 mg, as well as lozenges and sprays.

According to the public prosecutor, Perry was originally in a legal, albeit “off-label” treatment with ketamine against depression-a practice that is increasingly being used in the United States. Apparently, however, the actor was no longer sufficient for the doctor prescribing by his treating doctor, whereupon he was otherwise cared for.

Ketamine as the main cause of the death

Matthew Perry, who became known worldwide through his role as Chandler Bing in the cult series “Friends”, was found dead in his whirlpool on October 28, 2023 at the age of 54. The responsible forensic doctor attributed the cause of death to the acute effect of ketamine. Matthew Perry fought dependencies for decades and opened this openly, most recently in his autobiography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing”.

The last remaining defendant in the Perry case is Jasveen Sangha, according to the indictment, a drug dealer who is known as “Ketamine Queen”. She is said to have sold Perry the fatal dose. So far, Sangha has pleaded on “not guilty”, her process begins in August.

Plasencia threatens up to 40 years in prison, whereby a milder judgment is considered likely to be willing to cooperate. The judgment is scheduled for December 3, 2025. Until then, he remains at large for deposit.
