In an interview, Veronica Ferres talks about her role in the Impro comedy “Other Parents – 1st Class” – and real moments of surprise.

In the new Impro comedy “Other Parents – 1st Class”, which will be broadcast on ZDF on July 24, 2025 at 8:15 p.m., the German education system fell properly – and with him also headmistress Franziska Marx, played by Veronica Ferres (60). The principal, plagued by teacher, leaves her school to an ambitious parent committee around parent guide author Nina (Lavinia Wilson, 45), who – documentary accompanied by Ini Züger (Johanna Gastdorf, 66) – would like to create a classroom maturity utopia in Cologne -Nippes. Against a decent donation from the start-up entrepreneur Björn (Serkan Kaya, 47) Ms. Marx loosens the reins-after all, committed mothers and fathers can also teach a bit? Soon not only the school authority intervenes, but also the police …

For Veronica Ferres, the role of the somewhat overwhelmed but devoted director was a self -ironic rope dance between improvisation, social satire and quiet seriousness. How she prepared for the unusual format – and what she thinks about helicopter parents, she talks about in an interview with Spot on News.

How did you prepare for improvisation work without a classic script?

Veronica Ferres: In advance I had a few really inspiring conversations with the great director Lutz Heineking. He brought me closer to the story and the course of action. It is about a elementary school director who runs out the money – her school is about to end. She really does everything to save her because she just loves the children over everything.

In order to be able to feel better into the role, I was looking for direct contact with a real headmistress. We talked about their everyday life, about the challenges that just exist, and for example, she explained to me how a parents’ evening normally works. I was very lucky to be able to accompany her in everyday life. Especially when improvising it is totally important to play real and credible.

What was the biggest challenge in improvising in an ensemble production?

Ferres: To get your own excitement under control and then move completely safely in the role and to be able to draw all the freedom out of the figure and to get involved completely on the moment. First of all, it is like a jump into the cold water, but was a lot of fun.

In which scene did you be completely surprised when playing – by yourself or your colleagues?

Ferres: Of course it was the scene in which I was arrested and removed by real police officers. I was absolutely flabbergasted. (laughs)

In which scene you might have loved to have a script?

Ferres: I don’t think of any.

What particularly attracted her about the role of the school director Ms. Marx?

Ferres: For me, a circle has closed with this role – through Anita Kufalt from “Our teacher Dr. Specht” [TV-Serie, 1993-1996]. I totally enjoyed this great inner conflict as an actress: On the one hand, my figure absolutely wants to keep an eye on the well -being of the children and save the school, which is about to close. On the other hand, she has to deal with the vanities, peculiarities and demands of the parents – because, figuratively speaking, she is figuratively spoken, a pact with the devil: she lets the parents teach because they donate money for it.

How much Veronica Ferres is in Ms. Marx – and vice versa?

Ferres: There is a lot of Veronica Ferres in Ms. Marx and vice versa is a lot of humor from Ms. Marx in me.

How do you personally see the phenomenon “helicopter parents”?

Ferres: I see that it increases more and more in the young generation. But that is up to you. I think to educate children for self -employment than the greatest priority – and of course to protect them anyway.

What would you advise parents who recognize themselves in some scenes?

Ferres: That you can laugh about yourself humorously and maybe not take some things so seriously.

What do you take from the shoot about the German school system?

Ferres: That there is a lot in the Argen and that we have to change a lot because children are our future. What teachers often have to do in large classes with many students – I have the greatest admiration for it.

How big is your desire to work again in an impro format as soon as possible?

Ferres: I am ready.
