Liam Payne sister shares Hommage
For the 15th anniversary of One Direction, Liam Payne’s sister Ruth remembers his time in the band with emotional words.
Ruth Gibbins, Liam Payne’s sister (1993-2024), remembers her brother on Instagram. The Boygroup One Direction around Payne, Zayn Malik (32), Harry Styles (31), Niall Horan (31) and Louis Tomlinson (33) was founded in the course of the British casting show “The X Factor”. Ruth publishes emotional words online for the anniversary.
“Your love for 1D never stopped”
Ruth Gibbins shared two family photos that were taken in the same place every few years-and can be seen in the music video for the one-direction song “Story of My Life”. For this purpose, she published emotional words to her late brother. “Liam, this is for you,” she begins her contribution and remembers the moment when her family learned 15 years ago that Payne was in a boy band.
“Your love for 1D never stopped, you were so proud of what you achieved. And some of the love that accompanies us through this dark time is the love of your fans who have loved and supported you for 15 years. They are always so proud of you, I hope you can see that,” writes Gibbins. Payne’s close connection to his former bandmates also emphasizes: “You were the first to congratulate them on their successes for the band, you always sang their songs and spoke of them and your memories that they were the brothers you always wanted.” Zayn Malik left the band in 2015. The other members later announced a break. Since then, all have followed their solo career.
One of Gibbins’ favorite memories was the moment when she heard about the idea for the “Story of My Life” music video. “I turned to you and said: ‘But Nicola has a vokuhila and I have black hair in it?!’ And you laughed and said: ‘I know.’ It was clear to you that you made us add one of our worst photos. ” Nevertheless, she writes, the family had “a great time” during the shooting.
One Direction has “always a special place” in Gibbins’ hearts
“The time with 1D will always have a special place in my heart. You have totally spent yourself for the band and showed again and again how incredible you are,” writes Gibbins and adds: “This year, today, it is no longer the same.” She hopes that her late brother “sits comfortably somewhere”, hears the songs from One Direction “from start to finish” and smiles.
On October 16, Liam Payne killed in a fall from the balcony on the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. He was only 31 years old.
