In 1998, Donald HESS undertook an epic trip in search of the best wines in South America. He had been in Chile and then in the Mendoza region, in Argentina, but he still didn’t find that special grape he was looking for. Upon arriving in the province of Salta, in the North Argentino, Donald felt inspired by the intensity of sunlight and the quality of the terroir. It was then that his vision was born: to be a pioneer in a new category of wines called “high wines.”

Donald wanted to elaborate a world -class malbec at extreme altitudes. As a result, four vineyards were planted at different heights and, as true pioneers of the extreme height vineyard, they broke records when planting at 3,111 meters above sea level.

Colomé had a unique terroir: vine plants with more than 150 years old, of the prefiloxic era, a true inspiration that gave rise to the winery.
