“It is terrible”: The amount that Benedict Cumberbatch has to eat for the physique of Doctor Strange is enough for an entire family.
In his recurring role as Doctor Strange in the upcoming MCU film “Avengers: Doomsday”, which is due to go into cinemas in December 2026, Benedict Cumberbatch (49) has to go beyond himself. In the current episode of the “Sherlock” star about the physical requirements that are necessary to get the well-trained physique of Doctor Strange.
“For me, training is wonderful, and this makes me feel stronger and more confident, and my posture has improved,” the actor enthused. “Through training and nutrition, I gained the endurance to cope with live appearances.”
But even if the training bears fruit and he is happy about the physical consequences, he suffers from strict nutrition during the film work. Because Cumberbatch does not have to go hungry for the steel body of Doctor Strange, but rather consume countless proteins. “It’s terrible. I personally don’t like that,” said the Brit.
“I find it terrible to eat more than you need”
“I find it terrible to eat more than you actually need. This is also about responsibility, sustainability – it is just like this: ‘What am I actually doing? With the amount I eat, I could feed an entire family.'”
For the role he has been playing in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) since 2016, Cumberbach had to eat five times a day, as well as “a few cooked eggs between the five meals or a kind of protein -rich snack, cheese and cracker or almond butter and cracker – cracker, lots of crackers.” Regular protein -rich foods should cover the increased energy requirements of athletes or bodybuilders, support regeneration and promote muscle building.
Nevertheless, Cumberbatch admits how much he likes the transformation into a superhero: “I love the physical transformation in my job.”
