Actress Jamie Lee Curtis sees an endless cycle in beauty interventions. Generations of women have been disfigured, she says.
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis speaks against beauty interventions. In an interview with “The Guardian”, the 66-year-old spoke of a “genocide of a generation of women through the cosmetics industry who disfigured themselves”. The article shows Curtis (“Freakier Friday”) in a photo with large red waxing lips – according to her, this is to be understood as a “statement against cosmetic surgery”.
She has been using the word “genocide” on the topic for a long time – precisely because it is a strong word. “I think we wiped out one or two generations with a natural human appearance.” This “distortion of primary women” is promoted by artificial intelligence because people now want to look like on edited photos with facial filters. “As soon as I use a filter and you see the before and after the result, it is difficult not to say:” Oh, that looks better. “But what is better? Better is fake,” said Curtis.
She did not want to judge people who had beauty interventions. “I’m not trying to convert them.” However, the interventions are an endless cycle: “Once you started, you can’t stop.” But it is not their job to express their opinion to women. “It doesn’t matter to me,” said Curtis.
