Phil Collins: Spokesman denies rumors about hospice care

He described the rumors that the Genesis musician was in a hospice as “completely wrong”. The 73-year-old is currently in a clinic to recover from a knee surgery, the spokesman said.

Already in February, Phil Collins had opened openly about his health problems, which restricted him in his musical work. Although he sometimes thinks about going to the studio, he is currently no longer very desire to make new music. “I keep thinking that I should go down to the studio and see what happens. In 2022, Collins ended his career as a drummer after his health complaints made it difficult for him to keep the drum sticks. In the same year, Genesis completed their farewell tour. In the documentary “Phil Collins: Drummer First” published in December 2024, the musician once again described how difficult he was to do without playing the drums. He played the instrument since he was five, but the years of strain left its mark, especially on hands and legs.

The eight-time Grammy winner explained that he preferred to rest than do something that he no longer masters as well as before: “If I wake up one day and can hold it again, I will try. But at the moment I have the feeling that I have used up my air miles.”

Collins did not explain his complaints in detail, but said in 2017 on Facebook to suffer from a so -called “drop foot”, a paralysis of the foot that he suffered after a back operation and that complicates walking.
