Jock McDonald, singer of the punk band The Bollock Brothers, died in a bathing accident. The musician turned 69.

The punk rock scene mourns one of its most distinctive voices. Jock McDonald (1956-2025), front man of the band The Bollock Brothers, died on July 26th in a bathing accident in Ireland. According to the British media, the tragic incident is said to have occurred in the coastal city of Bundoran. The singer turned 69.



Family and band “are in shock”

His bandmate Pat Pattyn first reported on “With great grief in my heart I have to bring you this terrible news … Unfortunately our singer Jock McDonald died in Ireland last night, apparently in a tragic bathing accident,” he wrote on a photo of the musician on Sunday. The children of the deceased had asked him to inform the fans in this way.

“His family and all Bollock Brothers are in shock … We will try to get along, but that won’t be easy …” added the drummer and asked for peace and time to process the loss. “Rest in peace, my friend … I’ll miss you …”, he added, accompanied by three black hearts.


Band covered countless rock hits

Jock McDonald founded the band The Bollock Brothers in 1979. They published nine studio albums for more than four decades, most recently “Last Will and Testament” in 2009. They became known primarily through their cover of rock classics, including songs by Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf and David Bowie. Her interpretation by Alex Harveys (1935-1982) “Faith Healer” became a hit and made the band famous.

It was only in May that the punk rockers released the new single “I’m in Love with a British Rock Star”. The group worked on a new album before the death of their singer.
