The US broadcaster CBS is setting the shipment from Late Night Moderator Stephen Colbert. US President Trump rejoices, but does not want to be seen as a mastermind.
US President Donald Trump (79) does not want to have pulled the threads when removing the show from US satirist Stephen Colbert (61). “Everyone says that I am solely responsible for the release of Stephen Colbert at CBS Late Night. That is not true!” Trump wrote on his online language tube Truth Social.
“The reason for his dismissal was his complete lack of talent and the fact that this deficiency brought CBS $ 50 million in losses annually,” the US President continued. The show business is a very simple business: if the ratings were not correct, you will be sacrificed. “Colbert was a victim of himself,” wrote Trump. His colleagues Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are the next – the only question is who of the two of them first.
“I totally love that Colbert has been fired”
The US broadcaster CBS had previously announced that “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” would end in May 2026. Trump was happy about that: “I totally love that Colbert was fired. His talent was even smaller than his ratings,” he wrote about Truth Social. Colbert shot back: “Could a talentless man write the following satirical joke? You can.”
The late night shows, which are popular in America, have been a powerful format since Trump’s election as President to counter the president’s right-wing populism. While traditional media formats can reach their limits because of the many falsehoods and distortions of reality in reporting on Trump, the comedy-Talker opposing him, who reveals Trump from the audience of ridiculousness.
