Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral: The pictures of his last trip
Ozzy Osbourne’s last way leads through the streets of his childhood – Birmingham has the last honor for the “Prince of Darkness”.

It is a moment of rare symbolic power. Here, where John Michael Osbourne grew up, a life ends today that wrote music history. The city, which formed the sound of Black Sabbath, says goodbye to its most famous son – with a public procession that Birmingham has never seen in this form.
From 1 p.m. British time, the convoy moves in motion, past those places that are deeply interwoven with Osbourne’s legend: the Black Sabbath Bridge and the memorial bench, on which flowers, letters and guitar pleils have been stored for days. The city administration had blocked the Broad Street early in the morning, out of respect, out of preparation for the expected rush, but also as a silent gesture.
“Ozzy was more than a music legend – he was a son of Birmingham,” says Mayor Zafar Iqbal. “It was important to us that his last way was not anonymous, but visible, public, combined with the city in which everything began.”
The 76-year-old died last week, just a few days after a moving concert in Villa Park, which looked retrospectively like a farewell. There Osbourne, accompanied by his original Black Sabbath colleague Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, had entered the stage one last time. His message to the 42,000 fans: “You have no idea how I feel, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Years ago, Osbourne had made it clear how he wanted his funeral. “I don’t want my funeral to be sad. I want me to ‘say’ thank you,” he wanted in 2011 in an interview with the “Times”.
