Skim’s first product is launching the face: a sculpt face wrap. Experts are skeptical, but the product is already sold out.
After her shapewear for the body, Kim Kardashian (44) is now the next “problem zone” of the woman: the face. On July 29, she presented the first facial product of her successful Shapewear brand Skims with the “Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap”. The face wrap promises a nightly face contouring and has already provided enormous interest.
The “Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap” is advertised as a “indispensable addition to the nocturnal routine” and is intended to strengthen the jaw and neck game. The product made of the brand’s sculpting fiber is said to contain collagen yarns and is attached with Velcro fasteners.
Scientific doubts about the benefit
However, it is questionable whether the shapewear actually works for the face. Already last year there was a similar trend on Tikkok, in which “chin straps” were advertised to tighten the face and define the jaw line – Jawline. Dr. Joel Kopelman, a specialist in facial plastic, has already said: “While you can offer a slight and temporary improvement in appearance through compression of the soft tissues, there are no scientific evidence of significant or permanent advantages.”
Also surgeon Dr. Michael Bassiri-Tehrani said that compression associations mainly make sense after surgical interventions. “A normal, healthy person who has not undergone any surgery will have minimal swelling of the flat and therefore do not draw any real cosmetic benefits,” said his medical assessment.
Instagram shakes the head
The new product is also rather critically recorded on Instagram. In the comments on the product announcement, many ask if it is. In addition, two films come up again and again: “What is that the Hannibal Lecter?”, It is said, based on the horror strips “Hannibal”. Other film fans feel reminded of the black comedy “Death is well” in 1992. In it, Meryl Streep tries to stop aging with a similar facial association.
who posted skims and in which influencer Jasmine Alisha introduces her “Morning Shed” routine with the new product, triggers a shake of the head on social media. In the clip, the Beauty Influencer presents itself with the face wrap, a face mask, a lipstain, a silk hood and a curly wrapper overnight and is happy about her defined chin line. A comment is: “Sometimes I can hardly believe that the social view of women has gone so far that women believe that they need that …”
Skims fans remain true to your brand: Despite all criticism and skepticism on social media, the product was sold out within a very short time.
