A few years ago, moderator Steffi Brung was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The cancer was treated – now Brung has received a relieving update.
Five years ago, Steffi Brung was just 31 years old and freshly married, the moderator received a diagnosis that shocked her: cervical cancer. For a long time she could not speak openly about the disease, only when she was treated and was considered healthy that she made the diagnosis public.

Now Brung was able to give the all -clear after an appointment with her gynecologist. “She told me that I am now safe and that we can reduce the distance between the examinations,” Brung reveals to the “Bild” newspaper about the doctor’s visit. The TV personality also deals with precise treatment. “The affected tissue was removed at the time. After the operations, I had also been vaccinated to minimize the risk of renewed infection. In the meantime, I am now also HPV negative,” she explains.
HPV is for human papilloma viruses that are often associated with cervical cancer. Against HPV there has been a vaccination for years, which is recommended by the STIKO for girls and boys between the ages of 9 and 14.
Appeal for vaccination
Brungs address the appeal to all readers. “The disease is easily curable if it is recognized in good time. Preventive appointments can therefore be made to make a and end and also information about a possible vaccination,” she explains in an interview with the newspaper. A health insurance survey showed last year that fewer and fewer boys and girls are vaccinated against HPV.
Brungs can currently breathe a sigh of relief, but the thought of the cancer is steadily with her. “Of course, a residual risk remains,” says the “Love is Blind Germany” presenter of the “Bild”. “The topic doesn’t concern me every day, but of course I am still emotionally close when I talk about it,” said the 36-year-old today.
