Sven Ulreich was not available for his club for months for personal reasons. Now the goalkeeper and his wife announced the sad reason for this.
The 36-year-old football professional Sven Ulreich from FC Bayern Munich and his wife Lisa lost their son Len. The couple made this public in an emotional, joint communication on the goalkeeper Instagram account.

Sven Ulreich speaks of “infinitely difficult” decision
“In deep grief, we would like to tell today that our son Len died a few weeks ago after a long, serious illness,” says the statement. The couple made the decision to make the loss of their child public, but they fall “infinitely difficult”. According to the announcement, it is “an important step for us as a family to clarify in our environment and also in public”.
Sven and Lisa Ulreich now want to try to “find your way back to life step by step,” they continue. The two thank their families and friends, but also Ulreich’s club “for discretion and great support in the past few months”. This means a lot to the couple. Furthermore, ask both the media and the public “for consideration and respect for our privacy” and therefore refrain from inquiries or statements. Ulreich’s son Len was only six years old.
Ulreich is the German football record champion alongside Jonas Urbig replacement goalkeeper behind Manuel Neuer. He had occasionally lacked the squad for personal reasons last season. He extended his contract in Munich by another year.
