Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age He has revealed that he spent seven months in bed due to a disease after filming his new set “Alive in the Catacombs”.
In July 2024, the band canceled its European tour halfway because Homme needed emergency surgery. So far, no details have been revealed about surgery.
Now, he has revealed that his health problems arrived at the same time that the band planned to record a live intimate set within the catacombs of Paris, something that had been a goal for 20 years.
What were Josh Homme’s health problems
In a new interview with El Portal CEO, the leader shared that, before returning to the house of the tour, the band decided to stay and complete the recording, despite having an intense pain.
“I was in a very difficult physical situation, and the truth is that I am very grateful to have been”Homme declared the publication. “I couldn’t think of anything more than where we were. It is better that I was not fine, because I think if it had been well, perhaps we would have behaved as if we were Californians and we had thought: ‘What a guay to be here …!’
“Being there was a great difficulty and it required to overcome a lot just to lower the stairs. So we felt that we had earned the right to be there. Somehow, it seemed necessary,” he said.
“That is why I say that this place dominated so strongly. In reality, we are not so important. I know that we are interpreting it, but this gave us the opportunity to simplify everything, to inspire us in the catacombs, and reveal what these songs are. It was a desperate attempt to touch something pleasant for an audience that has been caught in a place for hundreds of years.”
Less than a day later, he returned to the United States for emergency surgery, he explained: “I acted in the catacombs and in about 20 hours they were sedating and anesthetizing me. Then I spent the next seven months in bed. I had a lot of time to think, you know? They told me that I was going to spend 18 months, two years there, so I was not excited. “
The Qotsa leader has also dealt with a diagnosis of cancer in recent years, for which at the end of 2023 he revealed that he had received the “approval.”
