The US Country singer Jeannie Sely is dead. The Grammy award winner died in Tennessee from the consequences of an infection.
The American country singer Jeannie Seely is dead. The “Don’t Touch Me” singer died in Hermitage, a suburb of Nashville, at the age of 85, as US media unanimously reported on her management.
Seely has been a formative figure of the country scene since the mid-1960s. Her song “Don’t Touch Me” from 1966 brought her the Grammy for the best female country singing performance. According to the reports, she placed more than a dozen titles in the US top-40 of the country hits in her career and appeared on the stage of the legendary radio show Grand Opry for decades, which she was the first woman.
Born in 1940 in Titusville (Pennsylvania), Seely began early on on the radio. After moving to California, she first worked in an office before moving entirely to the music. In addition to her solo career, she recorded duets with Jack Greene, including “Wish I Didn’t Have To Miss You”.
